The predecessor of the School of Life Sciences of Tianjin University of Technology is the Department of Biomedical Engineering of the School of Electronic and Information Engineering. The subject of this department is one of the subjects with complete set-up, high level of teachers and advanced experimental platform in Tianjin. It has a certain position in Tianjin and even in the whole country. In order to meet the needs of healthy China in the 13th Five-Year Plan and accelerate the development of healthy industry, the School of Life Sciences was established in November 2018.

Focusing on the frontier research fields of biomedicine and the major needs of the country, the School will conduct basic and applied research in key fields and directions of biomedical engineering, cell biology, molecular biology and brain science with the aim of scientific research service, and train outstanding talents with national feelings, global vision, innovative spirit and practical ability. The School has undergraduate majors in biomedical engineering, with master's degree in biomedical engineering and master's degree in engineering. It has the Department of Biomedical Engineering and the Biomedical Engineering Experimental Center. It belongs to the Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center of Tianjin General Colleges and Universities, the Key Laboratory of Photoelectric Detection Technology and System of Tianjin, and the Medical Electronic Diagnosis and Treatment Technology Engineering Center of Tianjin. Currently, there are 8 teachers with senior and middle titles among the teaching staff. More than 90% of the full-time teachers have doctoral degrees. They have more than one year overseas study experience, 7 graduate tutors, 11 graduate tutors, 1 famous teaching teacher in Tianjin, and 3 candidates for the third level of the 131 innovative talent training project in Tianjin.

The School relies on the teaching and research platforms of Tianjin Key Laboratory of Photoelectric Detection Technology and System, Tianjin Medical Electronic Diagnosis and Treatment Technology Engineering Center, Tianjin Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center of General Colleges and Universities, Enzhipu National Engineering Practice Education Center, MCU/DSP and Application Laboratory, and Excellent Engineer Practice Base to provide a platform for carrying out scientific research work and training high-level talents. Support. In addition, there is an innovative practice base for graduate students, which can provide perfect experimental equipment for simulation, circuit debugging, mechanical processing and other graduate practice. At the same time, joint training practice bases have been established with the Institute of Biomedical Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, the Tianjin Institute of Engineering Technology of the Suzhou Institute of Biomedical Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Institute of Medical Equipment of the Academy of Military Medical Sciences, Beijing Yihe Jiaye Medical Technology Co., Ltd., Tianjin Nankai Hospital and other enterprises and research institutes to promote talents. Joint training of schools and enterprises provides good conditions.

 

The School will closely focus on the major needs of the country and Tianjin and the innovation of disciplines, condense the direction of disciplines according to the development plan of disciplines, adjust the team structure, rationally construct academic echelon, enhance the ability to undertake large-scale scientific research projects as a whole, and strive to make the College in medical electronic diagnosis and treatment technology, medical signal processing and instruments, flexible circuits and intelligent wearable clothing and devices. Medical imaging and image processing technology and devices, brain science and brain cognition, cell biology, molecular biology and other research directions form characteristics.

The School strives to carry out foreign exchanges and actively promotes exchanges and cooperation with famous universities, research institutions and enterprises at home and abroad, such as the United States and Canada.

Life science is one of the leading disciplines in the 21st century and one of the key disciplines to be developed by Tianjin University of Technology. Teachers and students of our School will unite and work hard to establish a scientific and technological innovation system.
